Mary Poppins #2

Every year Alex participates in the Challenge Aspen Music and Dance Camp.  It is a week-long camp held in July and attracts participants and buddies (volunteers) from across the country. It is a community event and the performance is attended by hundreds, the outpouring of support is quite humbling to me. Alex is a wanna be actress/singer/Disney star so for now local stardom meets her needs until she is discovered.

The productions are broken into manageable scenes and the actors given the chance to play any number of roles. The leads are played by four to five individuals, thus giving everyone the opportunity to shine in their own special way. There is some irony in Alex’s role from last year as “sexy sandy” in "Grease” and I bet it has something to do with one of her boyfriends J who comes from San Antonio every year.

“Mary Poppins” will be performed on Friday and Alex was given the part of Mary Poppins 2 and a chimney sweep. She has been practicing since Monday and seems to already have her lines memorized. She will have a solo and is quite excited about showing off her stuff again. 

Me, I am not quite sure how she is going to pull off “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, but who am I to doubt? She is quite a determined and tenacious 19 year old. All she really needs this year is a better videographer.
