You raise me up

Imagine you are driving home from a conference on Inclusive Education,
Imagine this conference re-energized you and reinforced your belief that your fight was right,
Imagine this drive took you on I-70 from Denver to Glenwood Springs,
Imagine sun, snow and mountains, one of the most breathtaking drives in the country,
Imagine your thoughts focus on new strategies and relationships made at the conference,
Imagine as you are lost in your thoughts you hear this song, placed in your CD player randomly,

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up... To more than I can be.

Imagine you begin to cry as you listen to these words,
Imagine you realize these words are meant for you,
Imagine your daughter or son, or family member has a disability
Imagine understanding this person raises you up and helps you stand on mountains,
Imagine you are strong when you are on their shoulders,
Imagine this person raises you up to more than you can be.

Imagine you walk in the door to the biggest hug you have ever had, and
the happiest face you have seen all weekend, and
Remembering you have an opportunity not many people have, you have the chance to bring awareness and acceptance to your world, you will change a life.
